Hi,
Rhonda here,
Just joined the group...thanks for the invite :-) Great idea for a group!

I got the following recipes for natural homemade paint online somewhere...Haven't tried it yet though.

Natural Milk Paint Recipe
1 Quart skim milk (room temperature)

1 Once of hydrated lime by weight ( Do not use quick lime)

1 to 2 1/2 pounds of chalk may also be added as a filler.

Stir together milk and lime to form a smooth paste. Add color pigment of your choice and apply with a natural bristle brush. Allow first coat to dry sufficiently before applying another. Finish off with an oil finish if desitred.

Milk Paint Recipe
One Gallon Skim Milk

Two Cups Builders Lime (Do NOT use Quick Lime)

One Quart Linseed Oil (the boiled type)

1/2 Cup of Salt

Dye (Color) add in as needed

Mix all ingredients together and strain through a cheesecloth. Use within a day or two.

I just loaded a bunch of faux mats I made yesterday and anyone is welcome to print them as needed~They are in my photo section~
Have a great week~ We are freezing today with this artic express & my furnace just broke! My house is at 50 degrees and dropping. My oven is broken so I can't use t hat for heat~ My landlord said he will get someone down to fix it tomorrow~ brrrrrrrrrrr....so I may be offline while going to Walmart to browse & warm up... maybe buy and electric blanket~

I have started to make 'faux mats' with different sizes & textures so that I can frame 4x6, 5.5x8, 6x8 8x10's into 8.5x11 matt cardstock that I print in layers. .The center remains white so that it can either be cut out or have another picture attached right on it simply by lining the picture up to whatever size it fits on the mat and then the rest frames it out and enables me to use a standard sized 8.5x11 document size frame, or I trim a print layer off and it fits a 8x10~ I am putting together Holiday items and wanted to frame some of my art postcards and this is by far the most economical way I have found to do it so I am going to offer these mats online. Another good thing with them is for centrally drawing pencil or pen & inks-I will show some as they are done.

If anyone wants some let me know and I can work out a price for them. They do eat my ink but they come out really nice!

Still far cheaper than 'real' mats~
