Yes Ginger, sadly many artists fear someone "stealing" their work or idea.. but don't we all get inspiration from something? We each are unique really, each having a gift.. one cannot steal your spirit which is were all art begins. I often wonder how many artists give up in frustration, and the gift they carry goes with them to their grave? When we each create we are leaving a small piece of our soul to mark we have been here on Earth, long after the body has passed. I create for the shear joy of expression, not for the money or maybe fame... but see myself as a conduit between what once was living, a tree, into a new beginning... I try to evolve as I work.. when one chases money or what others want, it is nothing more then a wisp of smoke soon to fade... I will continue to look for those at shows that need help or information.. because I believe what we put into the world returns to us ten fold... together we are stronger!!! I'm definitely in. To paraphrase, "no artist is an island" so am anxious to share the little I know and glean any info from others. I agree with Lisa. I, too, have found many artists not willing to share and even back-stabbing, especially in shows and art fairs. I've hesitated joining local art guilds for this very reason. Thank goodness for online sites such as this one where all seem open and willing to share their experiences, good and bad, and help in any way they can.
